Callanish (Etching)

The standing stones at Callanish, on a clear summer evening. In the distance, the hills across the bay rise up, with shadows from the clouds and the varied ground. In the foreground, it's grassy and the nearer stones have some cracks and hollows. Most of the stones are surprisingly smooth still, after four thousand years of quietly standing there. They must take some weather, blasting the moss and lichen off on the seaward side. It was a peaceful place, strong and beautiful.
