The Fishing Tree (Etching)

A summer evening view of the River Aire as it flows past Airton in Malhamdale, focusing on the gnarled ruin of a tree on the bend. This is the heron's roost and fishing tree. A very peaceful spot to watch the world go by, with dappled sunlight on slightly ruffled water and the broken reflection of white clouds in the river as it chuckles over stones. The grass is high and the distant woods fade into the sunset sky.
