Copper Hills (Etching)

£ 125.00

Atmospheric view of the hillside as you drop down into Eskdale, looking back towards Scafell Pike. It's from a copper etching plate, where I used as few lines as possible in the first etch and then added tone and atmosphere with levels of stopping out and etching after aquatinting the plate. The patches of light and shade on the rugged hillside fade into the ragged clouds of an English spring day. I have history with this hillside, it's where I nearly drowned in a fell race in 2012, trying to ford the river Esk when it was in spate. I survived (obviously) but there's a lot of emotion for me in this place and I wanted to try an etching for a while.
